"The Background Art of All Studio Ghibli Theatrical Releases in One Book"
This book focuses on the background art that shapes the world of Studio Ghibli’s films, featuring 844 pieces selected from the vast collection of over 1,000 backgrounds painted for each feature-length film. The selection of the artwork was supervised by art director Yoji Takeshige. Spanning all 27 works from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) to The Boy and the Heron (2023), the book showcases the breathtaking "Studio Ghibli landscapes," created using various techniques such as brushwork, color, perspective, and light and shadow, under the direction of the filmmakers. We invite you to enjoy the beauty of these worlds.
