The "Hebikera" is a type of flying insect known as a "Hamushi" (winged bug). It has a giant body resembling a centipede, with dragonfly-like wings, sharp fangs, and three orange glowing eyes. Additionally, the tip of its tail has a protrusion, which causes Nausicaä’s glider, the Mehve, to crash in the film.
The "Hebikera" has been biologically redesigned by sculptor Takayuki Takeya, preserving its carnivorous and aggressive image, and brought to life as an action figure.
It also boasts significant appeal as a movable figure, with 45 articulation points throughout its body, connected by an internal frame of movable joints. This allows the figure to elegantly mimic the serpent-like flight movements of the Hebikera from the film. The fangs on its head and lower jaw open and close widely, and each wing can be freely adjusted to perfectly recreate its on-screen movements.
